Long-buried secrets…

Adventure and intrigue, struggle and hope set in the deepest caverns beneath the foothills of an alien world…

Enter Blaas Rakendo, heir to his grandfather’s collection of papers, books, photographs, relics, and ability to dream walk.

Brash and impatient, sixteen-year-old Rakendo believes he has all the answers, or at least he knows where to find them, even if they’re in a locked file at Council headquarters. Too bad the Council Leader hates him. It would be a lot easier to unravel the secret behind his inheritance if she wasn’t always hassling him. It wasn’t his fault trouble stuck to him like a leech.

But Rakendo soon realizes his problems with the Council Leader are insignificant when two archaeology students die under mysterious circumstances and two others disappear. In response, Rakendo’s team is charged with the task of safeguarding the transfer of artifacts these students discovered to the Archives, inadvertently setting in motion a wave of peril and portent his world hasn’t known since Transformation.

Eleven-year-old Hattie is on vacation. But rather than splashing in the water, she’s trapped inside the cottage as storm-tossed waves pummel the sand and wind bashes the shutters. As if that’s not enough, she’s also stuck babysitting for her new stepsister Dacey. Bored to the brink of tears, angry over an annoying kid and the kid's perky mother and oversized cat invading her life, Hattie prods Dacey into action, and the two girls embark on an indoor treasure hunt, hoping to find something – anything – to keep their minds off the miserable weather.

Little does either girl know what wonders lie ahead … a fabulous hidden world where fairy tales are real and statues come to life; an odd map that keeps changing; a maze of riddles and mystery and danger … how is it all possible? And how will Hattie resolve not only the mystery, but also her feelings about her stepmom and Dacey, and find a way back to the cottage?
